A while ago I started a blog network with the help of Wordpress 3. I wanted to find a plugin that allowed me to display ads on all sites created on the network regardless of the theme users chose to use, and users should not be able to edit or remove the ads. My search so far has been unsuccessful when I was looking for free plugins to show ads on the blog network, however I have found a plugin that costs $ 39 ($ 39 = about 250 SEK).
Plugin called Simple Ads and are available from WPMU DEV who developed the plugin.
How Simple Ads works
Simple Ads is simple in function and allows you to insert advertisements in two places, above and below each blog post or page. You can choose if you only want to display ads on blog posts, pages, and if you only want to display ads above or below the text.
You also have the option of turning off the ads so they do not appear on the "main blog" (your blog), which suited me well because I use a different ad plugin for this purpose.
What I lack right now is the ability to place ads in more places, and I would also like to have the ability turn off the ads to users who are premium members and pay to remove advertisements on their blogs.

Other ways to place ads in the Wordpress blog network
One way to place ads that users can not edit or delete might have been hard-coding the ads into each theme.
It is also likely that a free plugin will be released in the future.
